R.I.P. Sid Waddell, truly the legend of all darts broadcasters, will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad moment in time.xx
John Lowe:
Sid Waddell, my good friend, passed away last night, after a long battle with cancer, Sid was very much responsible for introducing darts to television in the 70's, working with Yorkshire TV's John Meade, they gave us The Indoor League, Sid then went to BBC and continued his passion for the sport, commentating on the Embassy World Championships for many years, before moving on to SKY TV. Sid was responsible for my first book The Lowe Profile, and would call me regularly to give words of support for future books I would write, famous for his many quotes like, "They will think the Ayatollah is coming home in Clay Cross tonight" after my first World Championship win, Darts has lost one of it's greatest champions, my sincere condolences go to Sid's family, good bye dear friend.
